Weekly Poll #2

July 6, 2016 by Evan Cruse Leave a Comment

Yesterday, we conducted our second weekly poll with our followers on social media. Our question was, “if you could pass one law to improve Michigan’s economy, what would it be?” Once again, we received great answers. Our favorite answers for Weekly Poll #2 come courtesy of Josh Rimatzki and Emily Lenerz. If Josh could change any law, he would get rid of mandatory car insurance, “good drivers should have the choice not to pay for others extreme carelessness.” Regardless of one’s support for … [Read more...] about Weekly Poll #2

The Common Core Substitute Bill Is A Huge Mistake

July 1, 2016 by Evan Cruse 2 Comments

Here at the Michigan Prosperity Project, we have been talking about the ongoing efforts to repeal and replace common core throughout the State. Common Core is a disaster for Michigan and our families who want an education system that is not ran by bureaucrats but rather by parents, teachers, and local communities. Common Core is also a financial disaster, costing states billions of dollars to implement. Luckily, there was a Senate Bill that addressed these issues by making it explicitly clear … [Read more...] about The Common Core Substitute Bill Is A Huge Mistake

Weekly Poll: What Does Prosperity Mean To You?

June 28, 2016 by Evan Cruse Leave a Comment

Yesterday, we asked our followers and fans on social media to tell us what they think of when they hear the phrase “prosperity.” Here are our favorite two responses from Austin Gray and Charlie Kolean: For Austin, he directly correlates prosperity with the American dream. You do not have to be a part of an elite class to be prosperous, but rather prosperity is within the reach of everyone. Together we can help each other become prosperous through holding the government accountable and … [Read more...] about Weekly Poll: What Does Prosperity Mean To You?

The ‘Sickout” is a No-Win Situation for all Everyone

May 3, 2016 by Evan Cruse Leave a Comment

The DPS teacher “sick out” is a no-win situation for all the parties involved. In case you have not heard the news, 94 of Detroit’s 97 schools are shut down because teachers are primarily protesting pay concerns as well as working conditions. There are two sides to this issue; the first is the right of the teachers. As CNN stated: “94 schools closed after more than 1,500 teachers called in sick to protest after learning the district only has enough money to pay teachers through June … [Read more...] about The ‘Sickout” is a No-Win Situation for all Everyone

Stop Common Core Update

May 2, 2016 by Evan Cruse Leave a Comment

As we have posted before, the education curriculum, Common Core, is a disaster for Michigan and our children. Luckily, the bill to repeal and replace Common Core was voted out of the Senate education committee by a 4-1 vote. Unfortunately, it appears that the Senate as a whole is not as serious as the Senate education committee about replacing this program. Melanie Kurdys a STOP Common Core activist has revealed new details about the plan There are STRONG indications the … [Read more...] about Stop Common Core Update

The Capitol Views Project

April 29, 2016 by Evan Cruse Leave a Comment

Yesterday, the Michigan House passed the $38.8 billion budget bill by a vote of 76-32. 1 The budget includes a variety of important expenditures such as funding for veterans programs. There is no question that we must take better care of America’s greatest class of citizens. Needless to say, this deal was too good to be true. Included in the budget deal was funding for the Capitol Views project. In case anyone is unfamiliar, the Capitol Views project is a new building for senate offices, … [Read more...] about The Capitol Views Project
